Today was a chill day. Since Marco’s bike is at the shop we stayed in and worked primarily on our content. We got some blog posts ready, some videos edited and reached out on several media outlets to get the word out. That was most of our day.
Marco received a call around 4:00pm letting him know his bike was ready for pick up. We quickly hop on the bikes and head over there. Clem, the gentleman who made sure the R90/6 was ready to rock and roll, is and older man who’s been with BMW in Aurora ever since the shop opened back in the ’70s. He’s the only one in that shop certified to work on these older BMW bikes and pretty much that’s all he does. He’s really good at it too. When we get to the shop he’s putting finishing touches on the bike. He finished up and we roll the bike out. Marco presses the ignition key and it comes alive.
We head over to get some food and find a place called Jim N Nick’s Bar B Q. It looks like a good place and we decide to give it a try. We walk in and are immediately hit with a wood smell as if they had some wood burning in the fireplace. It looks like a franchise spot similar to a Friday’s. We ask to be seated outside and when our server shows up he informs us that nothing is frozen at this place. All food is fresh and cooked on the spot, everything is made from scratch. I chuckle inside as I think of the place we ate at in Wilson, Kansas.
They bring out these biscuits for the table that tasted amazing. In my mind I wanted another round of these. Our server brings more. Is he reading my mind? Service and food are great! I shall return if and when I am back in Denver.
We head back to the apartment and Marco installs his new kickstand as his old one had failed and was not at 100%. After that we head out for a walk. Meaghan’s roomate Lydia suggests we check out the Renegade Brewery on 9th and Santa Fe. We get there and Marco and I order a round of beer. Gomes doesn’t enjoy beer so he waits it out. We finish our beer and talk about possibly going somewhere else but we come to the conclusion that we’re pretty tired and rather go back to get some sleep so we are ready for tomorrow. Since Marco’s bike is fixed again we will be back on the road and headed for Salt Lake City. Should take us two days to get there. We are one day behind schedule. Not bad, we should be able to make that up somewhere down the road.
